Andalusia kicked off the Christmas season by opening Candyland, the city’s annual month-long holiday display celebrating Christmas.

Andalusia opened its CandyLand Christmas Town for the third year this holiday season on the first day of December. Students from Andalusia City Schools were the first to get a chance to run and play in the snow, plus experience the Christmas-themed town’s newest attraction, the Polar Bear Plunge Slide.

The city still set up the traditional, interactive cottages that are built and donated by businesses in the city. The ice skating rink made another appearance as well, and of course the snow machines are there to give the kids a touch of a white Christmas.

Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson says the fun isn’t just for the kids.

“Quite frankly, the adults get excited about it as well,” he says. “I know I surely do. I had to get up this morning at five o’clock, because I couldn’t sleep anymore. Because I knew Candyland was going to be open this morning!”

CandyLand is open every weekend in December, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For a complete list of CandyLand activities, click here.
