Recent Rainfall Helps Farming

A Pike County farmer is grateful to get back into a normal routine after the recent drought that has affected many across Alabama.

Kevin Stephens of Stephens Farms says he hasn’t been able to get much done without rain. Recent statistics show nearly 90 percent of the state was in a severe drought last week. Stephens says the extreme conditions have affected his cows the most.

“Hopefully we’ll get in that pattern where we’ll get some because we definitely need to keep getting it. we’re way behind and it’s hard to catch up when you get behind,” says Kevin Stephens of Stephens Farms.

Last weeks federal stats also show that 65 percent of the state was in extreme or exceptional drought.
