Gang Crackdown Underway in Selma
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A new police initiative cracking down on gang activity is underway in Selma.
Operation Christmas Presence is an effort to respond to a recent increase in violence in the city.
Two teens died over the weekend and a mother and daughter were killed in a house fire that was intentionally set.
Authorities believe gangs had something to do the deaths.
Now they are targeting gangs and the places they hang outs.
“We’re going to tackle this gang problem here,” said Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
“They just getting out of hand thinking they can, basically, assassinate people.”
No arrests have been made in the shootings.
