Town Hall Meeting Addresses Rise in Crime in Montgomery Neighborhood
Hundreds of people packed into Trinity Presbyterian Church Thursday for the Midtown Montgomery Town Hall meeting. The meeting comes after a rise in crime in the area.
Many city leaders were in attendance including Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange and Police Chief Ernest Finley.
Residents had the opportunity to present their concerns to city leaders. Many of those were related to random gunfire, suspicious vehicles casing homes and poor 911 response times.
Chris Murphy, Director of Public Safety, says fighting crime has to be a team effort.
“The police department or public safety cannot solve all of the ills,” he explained, “it has to be partnerships with individuals, with residents, with business owners.”
