Less Sleep Could Mean More Body Fat in Children
Young children who consistently sleep less than the recommended amount are likely to have more body fat by the age of 7.
That's according to a new study, published in today's "Pediatrics."
Researchers say insufficient sleep at any time in early childhood can lead to obesity later. Current guidelines recommend children up to 2 years old get at least 12 hours of sleep a day.
3 and 4 year olds should sleep for at least 10 hours.
