2013 Year in Review

In 2013...the School Accountability Act that would provide tax credits for parents with students in failing public schools to transfer
them to a private schools, caused an uproar in the legislature after Republicans revised it and voted it through.

In October.... The Montgomery Public School board voted to end its contract with superintendent Barbara Thompson. This came after a grade changing scandal was discovered the year before and a state audit of the schools.

Also in October...
Alabama State University made headlines when Governor Robert Bentley's forensic audit on the school revealed financial misconduct by some university officials.

Murders for 2013 have been on the rise.
2012 totaled 32 murders while Montgomery is currently at 46 for this year.
Montgomery police say they continue to combat the problem.

It was the "Iron Bowl of the Century" as Auburn came off a losing season last year to go 11-1under new head coach Gus Malzahn.
With one second left in the game against number one Alabama, Chris Davis ran for a 109 yard punt return to win the game and eventually move on to the national championship game.
