Troy University Football Player Arrested for Murder

The Troy Police Department confirms an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting at the Troy Crossing apartment complex on South Brundidge Street.

21 year old Dimitri Miles of La Fayette, Georgia is being held on murder charges at Pike County Jail. His bond is set at $100,000. 

The university athletics department released a statement following the arrest.

"First and foremost, anytime there is a loss of life it is tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family.  Dimitri Miles was a walk-on student-athlete on our football team who was academically ineligible to compete in competition this past season, but practiced as a member of the scout team. His association with our football team and the Troy Athletic Department has been terminated as a result of these charges which are associated with an incident that occured off campus," the statement said.

Troy University officials say Miles has been suspended from school because of the charges.

Troy Police identify the victim as 26 year old Marquise Jermaine McClendon of Troy.
