Attorney General Comments On Immigration Crisis

By Sarah Cantey

Attorney General Luther Strange makes a stop at the Pike County Republican Women's meeting.

The immigration crisis was a major talking point. Strange says it's a humanitarian crisis blamed on the federal government failing to uphold the law.
He doesn't support the idea that illegal immigrant children may be housed at Montgomery's Maxwell Air Force Base. He says the issue should be addressed at the border, find a way to get them back to their country, and fix the broken system moving forward.
Luther Strange, (R) Attorney General said, "I know my friend the attorney general of Texas has already considered a lawsuit against the federal government seeking compensation for all the expense the state of Texas has had to go to to house these illegal immigrants and if you think about the demands we already have on our system here in Alabama our own citizens, their children, kids who need attention in the inner city and other places, we have to look at that because we don't have the resources to take that on."
Strange says he's proud of Senator Sessions and other leaders in Washington that are taking the lead on protecting our borders.
