Progress is in motion as the development at Chase Corner continues on Taylor Road.
Larry Cornwell lives in Halcyon Forest, the neighborhood directly behind the commercial lot. He has been working closely with Aronov on the development that is moving into his backyard.
"It will move rapidly along now with the clearing of the undergrowth, the leveling of the land, the placing of the curbs, and the site location. Whole Foods will be the last to go in. That construction won't start six months to a year perhaps."
Along with Whole Foods, there will be an Outback Steakhouse, a Buffalo Wild Wings, and a Jared Jewelry store.
While Cornwell is pleased with the plans that will allow for a 50 foot buffer separating his property from the commercial area, others are a little concerned about the traffic.
"It's going to make the congestion very bad. They are coming off 85 at a high speed. They don't want to stop for a light. Now with another intersection, it will make congestion all the more worse," said Joyce Martin.
Gloria Cogburn agrees. "I appreciate the fact they are bringing more businesses to Montgomery, but I don't know what they are going to do about traffic. It's gonna be very congested and very hectic."
Cornwell agrees there will be more congestion.
"It will cause more traffic on Taylor Road, but there is a traffic plan to help that. There'll be a little concrete wall to channel traffic into East Chase and another lane to bring it into Chase Corner," said Cornwell.
He says it is part of progress in the city and it's something he has been expecting for a while.
"It's zoned commercially and those of us that have been here a number of years are glad it's taken this long to start the development," said Cornwell.
