Chileans Spend Month at Troy University Learning English

Nine Chileans are about to end their stay in Troy, after spending a month learning English.

This is the first year of the program after a U.S. government official reached out to Troy University to create it.
The Chileans are mostly administrators and teachers in Troy to learn a little bit of English and also about southern culture.
The nine didn't know each other before starting the program.
They spent four hours a day in class and then took field trips to places like Montgomery and Atlanta on the weekends.
Robert Klein, an ESL Instructor said, "I also just enjoyed interacting with them. And like I said they are not 18 year olds so they do have a little bit of worldly wisdom and it was interesting. I learned a lot from them, their culture, their language."
Ricardo Cardenas said, "The teachers- Christian, Robert are very very good teachers. Very passionate. And we are very happy because they explain, and explain, and explain."
The University hopes to make this an annual program, possibly even doing it twice a year.
