CBS 8 is taking action against crime -- it's been two weeks since a man was shot and killed near a Montgomery park, but there are still no answers as to what happened. That has the victim's family frustrated and police asking for your help.
Antwan Williams was found dead on Jackson Ferry Road. Family member say there's only so much they know about his death, so they're asking for the community's help to come forward with any information they know in hope of seeking justice.
Caution tape marks the spot where Antwan Williams' family has set a memorial. Family members say he was son, a husband and a father to four children. His wife, Lakeyta Williams, is also also pregnant.
Police say he was found with gunshot wounds on the 1700 block of Jackson Ferry Road.
"He has two kids that won't even know him. They won't know who their father is. And y'all not saying anything," Said Williams, who is speaking about police and the little information she says she's getting about her husband's death.
"All we knew was that him and some guy that he worked with got into it and it was a shoot out and my husband was dead," Said Williams.
Although police are not confirming whether those were the circumstances or if a suspect has been arrested. Family members say a park on Jackson Ferry Road was where he'd come to relax. But this time, he never came home...
"I believe that he was murdered. I believe this guy pulled up on him and he shot him. He killed him right out here," Said Lakesha Powell, the victim's cousin. She says it's just one of the stories she's heard in town about how William's was killed.
And that's exactly what she says her family has to go by: what the public is saying.
"We hear two or three stories from out in the public, but so far from the police department? Nothing. His life is gone, so we can't bring him back and we're not concerned about that, but just let justice be done, that's all we're asking for," Said Charlie Powell, Williams' uncle.
It's also why the family is asking for the public's help.
"What really happened? We've been getting a bunch of stories, a lot of he said she said and a lot of people aren't saying anything," Said Williams.
Police also tell us they're looking for answers, too --
They say it'll be up to a grand jury to determine the circumstances of the death... There have been no arrests pending that.
Police are asking you to call Crimestoppers at 215-STOP if you have information as to what happened.
The family says they'll be holding a candlelight vigil tomorrow to remember Williams..
