LBWCC Recognized Nationally As Bellwether Finalist

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College is being nationally recognized for transforming college culture on campus.

The college is one of 10 national Bellwether Finalists for their work in bringing student housing to their Andalusia campus which LBW's Vice President, Dr. Jim Kurdop, says allows students to live directly next to the college and fosters a community culture on the campus. Kurdop also says the award will help students, past and present, in the community's workforce.
"It's just sort of college and community. And that's what we are, a community college. And they're excited, so they know about it, and they'll hire a lot of our folks," says Kurdop.
LBW's President Dr. Herb Riedel says they will present the project at the Community College Futures Assembly in January to other community colleges across the nation.
