Mobile Photo Voter ID Card Production Unit Visits Wilcox Co.

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Secretary of State Jim Bennett kicks-off mobile site visits for the production of photo voter ID cards.

Bennett and his staff plan to criss-cross the state providing free -- photo voter I-D cards to people who need them. Mobile production units will visit about ninety sites over the next two months.

Bennett says people can also get free voter IDs from their Board of Registrars office. He says the mobile units will focus mainly on small -- remote -- rural communities like Gees Bend in Wilcox County.

"National studies show about 11-percent of the voting population may not have all of the identification that they need so, we're just trying to fill in the gaps here," said Bennett.
