School Worker Ordered to Jail for Sex with Student

By Alabama News Network

A former Fayette County school system employee has been ordered to spend six months in jail as part of a 20-year sentence on a charge of having sex with a student.

Chris McCool, district attorney for the 24th Judicial Circuit District, said 46-year-old Michelle Coker Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge last month.

The Tuscaloosa News reports that in addition to the jail time, Circuit Judge James W. Moore Jr. ordered Taylor to be placed on probation for five years in addition to the jail time. The rest of the 20-year sentence was suspended.

Court documents state that Taylor worked in the Fayette County High School lunchroom, and was fired after the charges were filed.

McCool said Taylor had sexual intercourse with a student on at least two occasions.
