Store Owner Shot Multiple Times, Speaks About Recovery

By Sarah Cantey

A Union Springs store owner is shot multiple times and lives to tell the tale.

Chubby Ward remembers almost every moment leading up to and after being shot at least four times outside of his store.
It happened the night of April 3rd outside Taco Corner behind the Sardis Mobile Home park.
He was hit in the stomach, knee, and hands causing him to lose portions of a few of his fingers. He says he is doing well but that the pain is still almost unbearable.
Chubby Ward said, "I wait on the day myself when we get back to somewhat normal. When I can get around and wait on my own self and be able to get back to work hopefully. If the lord is willing."
Union Springs Police say Samuel Pruitt and Darrious Davis are being held without bond on robbery and assault charges for the shooting.
