Troy Shoppers Embrace Tax Free Weekend

By Sarah Cantey

A record number of 291 cities and counties are taking part in the statewide sales tax holiday.

This will be close to 10 years of Troy participating. Shoppers were already out in full force. And stores across the city have stocked shelves.
City leaders say it has a minimal impact on their budget, but greatly helps out families and local businesses.
Walgreens Store Manager Daphne Lee said,  "We are all stocked up and ready to go, some good sales. We are 24 hours so if you want to avoid the rush you can shop anytime."
Daphney Jennings said, "I mean it is easier on the pocket of course so I like to save money."
Even though Troy University doesn't start classes until the13th, moving trucks are already seen around the city, making it an even better weekend for business'.
