Two Dead After Attempted Robbery in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Two people are dead after a double shooting during an attempted robbery Tuesday night in Selma.

Police say the shooting happened Tuesday night at Highland View apartments when two men tried to rob an elderly man. They say one of the men shot the elderly man -- then he pulled out a gun and shot back.
The suspect that was killed has been identified as Lester Jones, Jr. of Orrville.

Lt. Curtis Muhannad says police are actively searching for the second suspect -- who fled the scene after the shooting.

"As of this morning the investigation changed from being attempted robbery to a murder investigation," said Muhannad.

He says anyone with information about the shooting -- call 874-2125.
