Union Springs Police Chief Resigns, But Not Going Far
The Union Springs Police Chief may have lost his title, but he will not be completely gone from the department.
Tonight the Union Spring Council approved the terms of Police Chief Clarence Wheeler's resignation. Wheeler will assist the Interim Police Chief Danny Jackson and will work at the department for up to two years. But, his attorney says he may retire sooner.
Wheeler resigned early this week after allegations of violating policy.
Clarence Wheeler, former Union Springs Police Chief said, "I think it's a privilege for me to be able to help out. I will be proud to help out Chief Jackson anyway I can. I am here for his disposable. So any way I can help him will be good for me."
The rest of the terms of the agreement between Wheeler and the City are confidential.
