Alabama ABC Board Combatting Binge Drinking
Alabama's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is expanding a program to combat binge drinking and underage alcohol use.
The agency and partner groups are putting on its "Under Age, Under Arrest" program at Miles College in suburban Birmingham on Monday morning. Miles is the first college to hold the program.
The administrator of the state's alcohol control agency, Mac Gipson, is participating with others including law enforcement representatives.
The effort has been going on since November, when it started with programs at high schools around Montgomery and Birmingham.
State troopers say 62 people were killed and more than 1,000 others were injured in wrecks caused by underage drinkers in Alabama from 2010 to 2012.
