Gunmaker Remington to Bring 2,000 Jobs to Huntsville Area

By Glenn Halbrooks

Gov. Robert Bentley joined state and local leaders in Huntsville to welcome Remington Outdoor Co., which plans to open a new plant in the area.

At the announcement Monday, the governor said Alabama is a perfect fit for the gun manufacturer because of the state's commitment to business and economic development, as well as its conservative politics and unwavering support for the right to bear arms.

Remington CEO George Kollitides told the gathered elected officials the company plans to bring 2,000 jobs to the plant in Madison County over the next decade.

Director of the Alabama Department of Commerce Greg Canfield said the state began the process of trying to lure a major company to the state nearly a year ago and proposed nine sites to Remington in August.
