Jackpots Already Won At New Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino

By Sarah Cantey

The nearly quarter billion dollar expansion to the Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka is now open.

Thousands came out to the grand opening of the 85,000 foot gaming floor. Construction crews spent the past 18 months constructing the new casino and 20-story hotel. The hotel will be fully open by mid-February.

Annette Robinson & Bettye Smith, from the Atlanta area said, "I love it, gorgeous, lovely, wonderful. It made my blood sugar level off today when I seen the place. What took them so long? Oh I'm so happy!"

Along with the 2,500 machines are 5 new restaurants and a 16,000 gallon shark tank that's going to be filled soon.

The casino general manager said a few jackpots have already been won. The highest was around $100,000.

And if Georgia would allow gambling, the proceeds would all be going to its state. Half the people at the Wind Creek opening were from Georiga.
