Brunson Wins Macon County Sheriff's Race

By Ellis Eskew

Tuesday night Macon County voters elected a new sheriff after 20 years.

Andre Brunson, a 24 year patrol deputy and current Chief of Security of Macon County Schools, won over Marcus Walker with more than 60 percent of the vote. Brunson says he is grateful for everyone who has supported him.

"It feels good. Been a long time coming since February. I've been working sun up to sun down. Just want to thank everybody who helped me throughout this race," said Brunson.

Brunson says he would like to be proactive in fighting crime  in the community and helping to make Macon County a better place.
