Curbside Recycling in Montgomery

By Alabama News Network

Local news tops our noon news...

Curbside recycling begins in Montgomery soon.
CBS 8's Josh Ninke is live at the Infinitus Center with the story...
Josh... What does this mean for the city?
The great thing about this new recycling center is that you don't have to change anything, just keep throwing out your trash in one bin.
The machines will separate up to 95 percent of available recyclables thrown out with regular trash. The city has partnered with Infinitus Energy on the 35 million dollar project. The project will create 110 local jobs and divert up to 80 percent of landfill waste. Officials say the facility is the the most advanced recycling facility in the country and will be up and running soon.
Mayor Todd Strange says this should keep the city from adding another landfill for several years.
