Thousands Come Out to Celebrate Life at Downtown Montgomery

By Alabama News Network

Thousands of people are in downtown Montgomery to celebrate life and show support for breast cancer research.

Today's Joy to Life  Walk of Life and 5K is an annual event which raises money for breast cancer research.

The winner of the 5-K had an impressive showing finishing the race in about fifteen minutes.

More than 5-thousand people came out today and organizers say that number has grown every year since the first walk back in 2002.

They welcome everyone, breast cancer survivors and their families, children and even pets. So they can spread the message and awareness about the disease.

The Joy to life Foundation has raised around 200-thousand dollars this month for research and awareness programs.
