Tallapoosa County Drug Task Force Cracking Down on Meth

By Alabama News Network

The Tallapoosa County Drug Task Force is cracking down on meth in the county.

Wednesday morning the Sheriff's Office and police departments met to talk about recent busts.

They say that's partly thanks to a new system...NPLEX...which monitors the sale of meth ingredients like pseudophedrine, to make sure one person isn't buying more than 3.6 grams per day or 9 grams a month.

According to District Attorney Paul Jones there were more than 600 sales blocked in 2013...which he says means less is being produced.

Officials say they're also working with local pharmacies to identify suspected manufacturers and arrest them.
