Brundidge Fire Collecting Donations To Send Overseas

By Sarah Cantey

For some military families, the holidays are tough, dealing with relatives serving our country overseas. One volunteer fire department is hoping to make it a little easier for one of their own.

The Brundidge Volunteer Fire Department is collecting hygiene items, snack food, and other items for care packages to send to Master Staff Sergeant George "Duck" Sneed and his unit  in Afghanistan. This is Sneed's fourth tour. He's been in the National Guard since graduating high school and has volunteered for the Brundidge Fire Department for more than 15 years.
Kathy Sneed, Duck's wife said, "They are doing a lot for us, they are over their life is on the line, they serve everyday, we do not know what they go through, but what the people back in the community does is as big to them as what they do to us."
You can drop off items at the Brundidige Police Department. Or you can call Glenn Adkins at (334) 268-2068, or Charles Tuttle at (334) 590-6394.
Here is a full list of what they are looking for: Cheez-It, Ritz Crackers, chips, cookies, Kool-Aid (single pack), lip balm, Kleenex, Pringles, sunflower seeds, Slim Jims, Tic Tacs, Certs, wash clothes, Band-Aids, ointment, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap/body wash, razors, shaving cream (no aerosol cans), dental floss/floss picks, hard candy, can boiled peanuts, eye drops (visine), deodorant, hand sanitizer, shampoo, gum, crackers.
