Former Bama Coach Gene Stallings Speaks in Troy

Organizers of the Pike County Boys & Girls Club 2nd annual steak and burger dinner wanted to bring in a speaker who would draw a crowd. Who better than a former NFL and Alabama coach who led the Crimson Tide to a national championship. Gene Stallings toured the club and spoke at the dinner.

Before his coaching career, he himself went to a Boys & Girls club after school and even coached there. Now he serves on the board for the club in Paris, Texas. The Pike County club relies mostly on grant money and donations and it is a struggle to keep their doors open.
Former Alabama Coach Gene Stallings said, "And when the people in troy, Alabama give some of their money so the youngsters can come here. Can maybe have a little better quality of life, that sort of falls under the category of a big deal."
This is the clubs largest board sponsored event and they were aiming to raise upwards of $25,000.
