Church Pastor Sex Crimes Case Moves Forward in Dallas Co.

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  The case against a Dallas County church pastor accused of various sex charges involving a minor -- is headed to a Dallas County grand jury.

District Attorney Michael Jackson says William Best Junior waived a preliminary hearing scheduled for this morning-- and the case has now been sent to the grand jury.

Jackson says Best carried on a sexual relationship with a seventeen year old -- that started when the girl was fourteen.

Best was serving as the pastor of Living Waters Church when he was arrested last month -- and charged with rape -- sodomy -- and incest.

"This is a very disturbing case, the trust issue was violated both at church and at home. A very, very sad situation for the victim," said Jackson.

Best remains in the Dallas County Jail on two million dollars bond.
