Selma Teens Face Capital Murder and Robbery Charges

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Two Selma teenagers charged with capital murder and robbery -- make their first appearance in court Monday.

District attorney Michael Jackson says 16 year-old John Jones and 18 year old Larry Hunter were each appointed attorneys -- and both had a preliminary hearing set for January 30th.

Jackson says they shot and killed 18 year old Alexis Hunter and stole her cell phone -- then chased the two girls Alexis was walking with and took their cell phones too.

"Three girls just walking down the street, they get robbed over a phone. A phone, that's how value, value-less life is today to some people," said Jackson.

He says both suspects are being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
