Iron Goddess Competition Recruits Female Marines

On Saturday, around 30 women came for the Iron Goddess competition.

They split into teams, going through a full crossfit workout in a contest of speed, endurance and agility.

Officials say they are facing a shortage of female recruits, and  a lot of it is because people don’t understand the Marine Corps, but they hope this can help change that.

Women currently make up less than 10 percent of U.S. Marines.  Recruiters hope events like these can encourage more women to enlist.
