A ceremony was held today for the official ground breaking of the future Peter Crump baseball complex.

The new facility is being sponsored by councilman Jon Dow along with Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange and other city leaders.

The 1.8 million dollar project will be a consolidation of Peter Crump and Seth Johnson Baseball fields.

Phase two includes the construction of three baseball fields, concession stands, batting cages, and parking.

“statistics show that kids who are not involved in extracurriculur activities have a higher opportunity to commit crime, but once they come into baseball or basketball, and they are mentored and have good relationships, it kind of helpos them get refocused on the important things in life” says Montgomery city Councileman John Dow.

The new complex will support the Dixie Youth Southern League and city officials say it will create a safe and enjoyable environment for kids in the area.
