Selma Murder Suspect Gets Million Dollar Bond

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Selma Police make an arrest in the city’s latest murder.

Fifty-one year old James Herrod was in a Dallas County court Friday morning after being arrested late Thursday night. He’s charged with the murder of 29 year old Crystal Johnson of Selma.

Johnson was found severely injured Monday on County Road 74 — and later died at the hospital.

“They’re looking into the possibility that she might have been sexually assaulted,” said Dallas County district Attorney Michael Jackson. “That’s something we won’t know until the forensics comes back and so right now its murder, it could be upgraded to capital murder depending on what the evidence turns out.”

Herrod is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a million dollars bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for March 10th.
