Lawmakers are working to bring a lottery to Alabama, and we want to know what you think.
The lottery has been a hot topic for nearly two decades.
A constitutional amendment to create an Alabama lottery in 1999 was voted down by Alabama voters.
But some think it may be time to bring it back.
Roberta Collins says, “I think the state needs a state lottery because people leaving the state going elsewhere to gamble. So therefore we do need one to keep our people here.”
But not everyone agrees.
Leigh Gonet says, “It brings in a lot of crime that we’ve already seen with the Racetrack conflict and kind of the nastiness that occurred towards the governor over that issue when it was shutdown– when the gambling was shutdown, other than the dog track.”
