Former starting University of Alabama quarterback was in Montgomery Thursday. The record-breaking football player made a stop at Carver High School.

Students packed the carver auditorium to hear Sims speak. He talked about obstacles he’s faced in his own life, including problems on the football field in the classroom.

He said with hard work, he’s overcome those challenges, going on to become the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide.

He says he wants to use his name recognition for good to inspire young people to follow their dreams, too.

“The main thing is to keep pushing. if you get knocked down, get back up. the sky’s the limit and you just do whatever you have to do,” Sims said.

Sims is preparing for the NFL draft at the end of this month.
