Updates from Alabama and Auburn Scrimmages

By Ben Bolton

UPDATES — Both Alabama and Auburn had scrimmages on Saturday. The Tigers finished up their final one, while Alabama is still looking for a quarterback.

Alabama:

The quarterbacks all got oppotunites to show what they can do. Jake Coker got 26 pass attemps, while Cooper Bateman had 27, Alec Morris had 21 and Blake Barnett had 11.

Despite the rotating QBs, wide reciever ArDarius Stewart stood out with nine catches, to support a strong running attack.

On defense there were two turnovers returned for touchdowns. And Cyrus Jones was named the primary punt returner.

Auburn:

Over in the plains, the Auburn Tigers held their third and final scrimmage of the fall. Wide reciever Duke Williams went from getting third team snaps to the second team.

Safety Tray Matthews is still limited in practice but should be able to play week one.

Malzahn said the special teams competitions are still wide open, and that Jonathan Wallace is taking precautionary snaps as third QB.
