Maxwell AFB and the City of Montgomery to Make a Land Swap

Land swap will give city desirable land next to the Alabama River.

There will soon be some changes along Maxwell Boulevard in Montgomery.  The City and the Air Force Base will soon make a land swap.

The swap will include about 9 acres of land Maxwell AFB owns close to the Alabama River near the old Chapel House.
In return, Maxwell will get a parcel of land near it’s gate on Maxwell Boulevard.

City officials say it’s a win, win situation for both Montgomery and Maxwell Air Force Base.
For the city, having land next to the river will be a bigger draw for possible investors looking to do business.

For officials at Maxwell, it increases base security by controlling more land near the base entrance.

The land swap between Montgomery and Maxwell Air Force Base should be finalized by the middle of January.
