Carter Secures Third SSAC Player of the Week Honor

Auburn Montgomery senior guard Jatoria Carter has been selected the Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Carter joins senior teammate Reggotta Craig as three-time winners of the award. The two have combined for six of the 10 awards issued and are the only repeat winners in the conference.

Carter enjoyed another stellar week for AUM, helping the Warhawks to a pair of conference victories by averaging 31.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 steals and 3.5 rebounds per game. She converted 55.3 percent of her attempts from the floor and 17-of-21 free throw attempts (81 percent).

The Montgomery native opened the week with balanced game against Middle Georgia, in which she scored 33 points, dished out six assists, tallied four steals and pulled down four rebounds. She converted 14-of-17 free-throw attempts en route to her third 30-point effort of the season in the victory. Carter followed with a 29-point, six-assist, four-steal and three-rebound effort against Brenau.

For the year, Carter currently leads the NAIA in steals (97) and steals per game (3.88), while ranking second in scoring (499), fourth in points per game (19.96), sixth in assists (120) and ninth in assists per game (4.8).

The Warhawks will return to action Saturday, Feb. 13, when they host local rival Faulkner at 2 p.m.
