annmontgomerynewsroom.jpgA new business approved Tuesday night by the Montgomery City Council is catching some attention.

The council voted unanimously in favor of a new teen club. It will be located on the Eastern Boulevard, near Home Depot, and would serve as a safe haven for Montgomery-area youth.

“I feel like they’re going to congregate regardless whether we give them a place or not. So my goal is to take them from congregating on the corners and give them a safe place in the community where they can come have fun, but they can also get some academic help as well through the week.” says Jeremy Kelly.

Kelly says the hangout spot will offer special event parties but will also focus on mentoring and educational training throughout the week. He says there will be a regular life skills course to teach things like budgeting as well as tutoring.

He hopes to open the teen club in late spring.
