app-find-my-iphonePolice are investigating a deadly shooting in Fairfield.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis tells local media that a 23-year-old man was shot twice in the chest Sunday evening outside a church. The man was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After the shooting, nearby Miles College was put on lockdown as a precaution, but Davis says no students were involved. The lockdown was lifted late Sunday night.

Davis says police believe the victim was shot after he used an app to track his iPhone, which had been stolen out of his car.

No arrests have been made yet.

In Montgomery, sheriff’s deputies urge anyone who has their smart phone stolen, to contact their local authorities and file a police report.  They say even if you know the location of your phone due to a tracking app, never take the law into your own hands.

Once you make a police report, you can then work with investigators to hopefully track down your phone and have whoever stole it, arrested.
