2e8bdf0a-7233-43b7-b521-5b22968d0fd9Bishop Paul Leeland of The Alabama West Florida Conference has appointed Dr. Larry Bryars to Frazer United Methodist Church to serve as senior pastor. Dr. Bryars is currently serving as District Superintendent in the Marianna/Panama City District. He is originally from Stockton, Alabama and has served churches in Central Alabama.

As a senior pastor, Dr. Bryars spent 14 years at Epworth UMC in Phenix City, 4 years at Aldersgate UMC in Montgomery and most recently 10 years at Shalimar UMC in Florida before being asked to serve as District Superintendent.

Dr. Bryars or “Larry” as he prefers to be called and his wife Vicki have been married 38 years and have three grown sons. He says he feels tremendously blessed to be appointed to a church like Frazer. “I’ve known the pastors and people of Frazer for years and have long admired the church, so I feel very humbled to be chosen to lead and come only seeking God’s will for Frazer and will pray diligently to find that.”

Frazer’s current senior pastor, Dr. Tim Thompson announced his retirement earlier this year, saying he and his wife Virginia feel God calling them into a new season. The appointment of Dr. Bryars is effective July 1, 2016.
