Troy Women’s Tennis Wins Over EKU
WALTON BEACH, Fla (troytrojans.com) – The No. 74 Troy women’s tennis team returned to action on Tuesday and knocked off Eastern Kentucky, 4-1, on a neutral court at the Ft. Walton Beach Tennis Center.
Troy (9-4) grabbed a critical doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to take the early lead. Eastern Kentucky (5-8) grabbed its lone point and tied the match with a win at No. 1 singles. However, from there the Trojans quickly put the match away with straight-set wins at the bottom of the singles lineup.
Efriliya Herlina was the first on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Margaux Lacroix at No. 4 singles. Luisa Ferrauti was next with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Raquel Montalvo.
Nancy Karaky clinched the match with her fourth straight singles win, this one 6-1, 6-2 over Marina Marti at No. 5 singles.
Troy returns to the court next Thursday, March 24, when the Trojans host Appalachian State in a Sun Belt match at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
