Trojan netter Andy Lau earns Sun Belt honor
NEW ORLEANS, La (troytrojans.com) – Troy men’s tennis sophomore Andy Lau has been named the Sun Belt Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Lau led the Trojans to a 5-1 week, including two wins over ranked opponents in No. 65 UNC Wilmington and No. 75 Florida Gulf Coast. Troy’s lone loss came to No. 16 USF.
The Hong Kong native posted a 3-0 singles record with wins in all three of the matches against ranked teams, including a 6-1, 6-3 win over USF’s Sebastien Butler. Lau won the clinching match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, in a 4-3 win over UNCW.
On the season, Lau has won seven straight singles matches and now has a 7-6 singles record in dual matches.
Lau and the Trojans return to action on Sunday, March 27, when they host Jacksonville State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
