Selma Resident Charged in Death of Birmingham Teen

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – Birmingham police say a Selma resident is charged with capital murder in the killing of an 18-year-old man.

A police statement says 19-year-old Alfred Parnell is being held without bond in the gunshot death of Maliek Mcbride. He was arrested Tuesday in Homewood by U.S. marshals.

Officers responding to a call found Mcbride dead in a parking lot on March 14.

Police say an investigation shows Mcbride was conducting some sort of illegal transaction when gunshots erupted. A witness saw a man running away from the scene.
