BYU-Hawaii halts Tuskegee netters’ win streak

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University women’s tennis team had their 11-match winning streak snapped by top-ranked BYU-Hawai’i 9-0 at the PepsiCo Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.

BYU-Hawai’i (15-0), on a state-side tour this week, swept doubles play beginning with the win at number three doubles, followed by number one before the number one doubles team won their match after losing back-to-back points to Reicia North and Monica Thomas of Tuskegee. The Lady Golden Tigers duo faced seven match points before winning the two points at number one doubles.

In singles play, Tuskegee (13-4) battled for many of the sets before BYU-Hawai’i was able to pull away for the win, clinching the match with victories at number five and six.
