Trojans turn back clock to 1986 Championship this weekend

TROY, Ala (troytrojans.com)  – In celebration of the 30th anniversary of its 1986 National Championship, Troy baseball will host 80s Weekend at Riddle-Pace Field this weekend.  The three-game series against New Orleans, which begins on Friday at 6 p.m., will include $1 admission, 80s walk up music and a 1986 team reunion.

Fans will be able to purchase a $1 general admission tickets for each game of the series. The concession stand will have 80’s prices and the players will have 80’s walk up songs all weekend long.

First pitch for Saturday’s game is set for 3 p.m. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free 1986 commemorative poster. The 1986 team will also be honored on Saturday.

The 1986 team posted a 46-8 record, which is the fewest losses in school history, and went 12-0 in conference and postseason play. The team set five school records in that year and finished in the top three in lowest ERA and most shutouts.

80’s weekend will end on Sunday with the series finale slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
