Troy leads Rebel Intercollegiate
OXFORD, Miss (troytrojans.com) – Gabi Oubre’ fired a 1-under 71 to lead the Troy women’s golf team in Friday’s opening round of the Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Course. Oubre’ is tied for the individual lead, while the Trojans sit alone in first place with a three-shot advantage.
Oubre’ carded three birdies and just two bogeys on the day en route to tying the second best round of her season. She made the turn at 2-under after birdies on two of her first four holes.
Troy, who entered the weekend ranked No. 93 nationally, shot a 9-over 297 on the day and lead East Tennessee by three shots and Harvard by four shots, while host Ole Miss and Murray State are tied for fourth six shots off the pace.
The Trojans have a pair in the top 10 after day one as Fátima Fernández Cano fired a 1-over 73 to end the day tied for eighth place. She climbed out of an early 2-over hole with birdies on No. 8 and No. 9 to make the turn at even par. After a double-bogey on No. 17, Cano ended her day with a birdie on No. 18.
Bianca Lohbauer continued her impressive spring with a 2-over 74 on Friday to sit in a tie for 12th place. Lohbauer, who entered the tournament with a 75.93 spring average, finished the day with four birdies, which tied for the most in the field of 90 golfers.
Rounding out the field for the Trojans was Becca Horner in a tie for 53rd place after shooting a 79 and Lindsey Harrison in a tie for 61st place after shooting an 80. Playing as an individual, Kalyn Hudson carded an 84 and is tied for 79th place.
Troy will be paired with East Tennessee State and Harvard for the second round and the grouping will hit the course beginning at 10:21 a.m. on the first hole.
