Huntingdon drops Tuskegee netters 8-1 in Tigers’ regular season finale

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University men’s tennis team fell in their final regular season match of the season to Huntingdon College, 8-1, at the PepsiCo Tennis Courts Monday afternoon.

Tuskegee (3-13, 3-9 SIAC) got their lone win at number one singles when Oshane Trail defeated Huntingdon’s John Jones 6-3, 6-3 in the final match of the day.

Huntingdon won the other four matches that were scheduled all in straight sets. Brandon Sewell came up short in his match at number two against Huntingdon’s Ben Marler 6-3, 6-4; while Reginald Richardson made a charge late in his match against Huntingdon’s Seth McClendon at number four 6-2, 7-5.

The Hawks entered the match up two points as they won at number six singles and number three doubles by default, and quickly jumped ahead 4-0 after doubles play.

Tuskegee returns to action Friday morning against Benedict in the SIAC Tennis Championships in Jonesboro (Ga.). The match is set for 11 am (est).
