Dealing with Teen Suicides in Faith
Teen suicides are growing at an alarming rate and for many families its a difficult time to get through.
Mental health advocate Jessica Azar believes that faith is the only thing that can get families through. But first, parents need to recognize the warning signs that lead to suicide, which she says may start with depression. In her recent blog post, “What Do I Even Say? Stopping the Teen Suicide Epidemic,” she shares more of those signs and how parents can hold to their faith. She says its important for parents to remind teens that God is eternal and nothing temporary is worth taking their life.
“We need to draw our strength from him because it’s always going to be there and to teach our kids to draw on that strength and go there,” says Jessica Azar.
Research shows that suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year-olds.
