Troy women slip to 2nd at Sun Belt Championship
MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla (troytrojans.com) – The Troy women’s golf team shot a 310 in Monday’s second round of the Sun Belt Women’s Golf Championship at the Raven Golf Course; the Trojans slipped into second place, while freshman Bianca Lohbauer is tied for fifth place individually.
Troy carried a one-shot lead into the second round, but Texas State fired a 13-over 297 on Monday and will take a 12-shot advantage over the Trojans into Tuesday’s final round.
Lohbauer is joined in the top 10 by a pair of teammates as Fátima Fernández Cano and Becca Horner are both tied for ninth place, while Gabi Oubre’ is tied for 18th place and Lindsey Harrison is tied for 27th.
Cano led the Trojans on Monday with a 3-over 74 after rebounding from a shaky start. She made the turn at 3-over, but responded with a pair of birdies around two bogeys on the back side to finish with a 74 on the par-71 course.
Horner is closing in on her third straight top-10 finish at the Sun Belt Championship after carding a 6-over 77 in the second round. Lohbauer, who was tied for the individual lead after the opening round, carded a 7-over 78 her second trip through the course. Harrison and Oubre’ both finished the day 10-over par, but well within striking distance of the top 10 as they are just four and six strokes back from a group tied for ninth place, respectively.
Texas State’s Raksha Phadke shot a 1-under 70 on Monday to grab a two-shot lead over Little Rock’s Shania Berger, while Lohbauer is seven shots off the pace.
