Barlow pushes back on VSU job reports

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AlabamaNews.Net) — Montgomery native and former Alabama State Head Football Coach Reggie Barlow’s name is being offered as the next potential head football coach at Virginia State University, but the former Hornet standout refutes the account he’s actually been offered the job to lead the Trojan football program.

Monday night, an online report was published saying Barlow had been offered the post in Ettrick, Virginia, following an interview for the job this past weekend.

Tuesday afternoon, Barlow told AlabamaNewsNet’s Sports Director Vince Lennon that the story is incorrect, and that in fact he has not been offered to the position at VSU.

Virginia State is actively searching for a permanent head football coach, Justin Harper was named interim coach in late January after Trojan Head Coach Byron Thweatt resigned his post after one season.

Barlow was formally introduced as the Lanier Head Football Coach in March, but had previously been linked to the Carver High School post in Columbus, Georgia months earlier.
